REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma and completion of at least 18 credit hours of formal education in an Engineering-related curriculum
  • Work-related experience preparing and modifying engineering drawings using AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of, and experience working with, Technical Specifications 9090-600, 9090-100, 9090-310, General Specification for Overhaul S9AA0-AB-GOS-010/GSO and NAVSEA Standard items.
  • Increasingly difficult structural drafting experience
  • Design drafting in planning or conceiving structures in order to satisfy performance, economy, safety, size, strength, durability, and maintainability factors.
  • Naval Ship design experience within the last  5 years involving structural design and working plan development for construction, conversion, modernization or alteration of U.S. Naval Ships highly desired.

Responsible for maintaining factory equipment, particularly conveyor belts. Industrial experience required.

 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Oil and grease production equipment as necessary
  • Troubleshoot and repair production equipment malfunctions
  • Inspect and maintain all production equipment as scheduled
  • Operate drill, saws, grinders, welding apparatus, presses and a variety of manual tools to repair and maintain production equipment
  • Building and grounds maintenance, incl. plumbing, general electrical wiring, and painting
  • Test operate production machinery such as mixers, saws, conveyors, box makers, sealers, fryers, freezers, forklifts, separators and baggers.
  • Write up and submit requests for parts for repair and maintenance
  • Maintain a logbook of daily activities
  • Coordinate maintenance efforts with outside machinery technicians
  • Make equipment adjustments as requested by line supervisors to assist machine operators with accurate functioning of precision production equipment.  

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years of related mechanical experience and/or specific welding, hydraulic, pneumatic or electrical training required
  • Basic algebra and geometry and ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Must be able to pass mechanical aptitude test
  • Lift up to 50lbs

                                                    INDUSTRY: SHIP REPAIR

                                                    LOCATION: NORFOLK, VA 

                                                    PAY RANGE: $15.00 - $23.00 per hour 

                                                     

                                                    SUMMARY: 

                                                    Seeking shipfitters able to manufacture templates, layout and fabricate structures, and fittings including: bulkheads, equipment foundations, hangars, ladders, and stanchions, and have experience with installing, removing, alterations, and repair of ship’s superstructure.

                                                     

                                                    REQUIREMENTS: 

                                                    • Able to lay out a radius 
                                                    • Able to fit up and make ready for welding. Including: chipping, beveling, hand-grinding, and cleaning of surfaces to be welded. 
                                                    • 5 years’ shipyard shipfitter experience
                                                    • Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and sketches
                                                    • Must be able to pass criminal background check
                                                    • Must be able to pass drug screening

                                                    • 3 years in dimensional inspections, using calipers, micrometers, optical meters, and CMM's
                                                    • Background in a manufacturing or machine shop environment, performing dimensional inspections.

                                                      Seeking a Machine Shop Planner skilled in the set up and operation of CNC and manual mills and lathes. Will also be responsible for ordering materials and coordinating work with other departments.

                                                      Must be a self-starter with innovative approaches to include efficient use of machines & software for manufacturing of products, as well as scheduling & reporting customer requirements.

                                                       

                                                    • REQUIREMENTS:

                                                      • Ten years of related work experience with lathes and mills in machine shop environment desired
                                                      • Apprenticeship or equivalent community college coursework or related work experience
                                                      • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Word and Excel
                                                      • Thorough knowledge of GD&T required
                                                      • Fluent in interpreting blueprints & technical specifications
                                                      • AutoCAD proficiency required
                                                      • Clean background
                                                      • Must pass drug screening
